To put it into pairing mode, you hold down the Bluetooth button until you hear the speaker say, "Ready to pair." Select Bose Color SoundLink from the list of devices on your Bluetooth Settings screen, and the speaker will tell you when it is connected. The SoundLink Color paired easily with iOS and Android devices. For $50 more, you can get the Fugoo Style, which features 40 hours of playback on a charge. The Mini Jambox is rated for 10 hours, while the UE Boom claims 15 hours. However, 8 hours is less than the battery lives of other Bluetooth speakers in this size and price range. After 9 hours, the battery indicator still glowed amber it would turn red before it ran out of juice. Battery Lifeīose claims the SoundLink Color can get 8 hours of playback on a full charge, and I was able to listen for more than that. Where they truly differ is in sound quality, price, and battery life. They're both water-resistant to allow for submersion in up to 3 feet of water for 30 minutes, and they're both ruggedly made to withstand any travel, outdoor activity, or party. That's much louder than the Mini Jambox's 80 dB and on a par with more expensive models like the $300 UE Megaboom. The Ultimate Ears Wonderboom and Bose SoundLink Micro are very similar. I measured more than 90 decibels, with very little distortion. If you'd like a slightly more versatile design and the ability to charge with a microUSB cable, the UE Boom is a solid alternative that offers comparable, if not quite as great, audio quality. Whether it’s standing upright, lying on its back or hanging from its tear-resistant utility loop, you’ll always hear your music in full, balanced tones. The SoundLink Color pumps out music at an impressive volume. With its PositionIQ Technology, SoundLink Flex automatically adjusts to its orientation to optimise the sound. It creates little left-right stereo separation, which negated the swirling guitars on Led Zeppelin's "What Is and What Should Never Be." The speaker's main audio flaw is a result of the device's narrow body. The Bose SoundLink Flex even has its own strap and carabiner, letting you hook it onto your gear or hook it up somewhere everyone can hear.
